Employment Basics
Employment Classification
All movers and painters are W-2 employees, not independent contractors. This entitles you to California labor protections, including workers’ compensation, unemployment, and paid rest periods.

Pay and Benefits
Hourly Pay
Standard Rate: $40/hour (may vary based on experience)
Overtime Pay: Time and a half for hours over 8/day or 40/week per California law
Pay Schedule
Pay issued weekly on Fridays via direct deposit
Paper pay stubs available upon request
Breaks
10-minute paid rest break for every 4 hours worked
30-minute unpaid meal break for shifts over 5 hours
Scheduling and Attendance
Work Hours
Jobs are scheduled between 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Start times vary by project and customer requirements
Availability
Confirm your availability at least one week in advance
Same-day call-offs are for emergencies only and must be reported immediately
Punctuality
Arrive on time, ready to work
Chronic lateness or absenteeism may lead to reduced hours or termination
Job Duties and Expectations
Movers
Load and unload furniture and boxes safely
Drive and handle moving equipment (if applicable)
Disassemble and reassemble furniture
Wrap, pad, and secure items to prevent damage
Interact professionally with customers
Painters
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming
Paint walls, ceilings, trim, cabinets, and furniture as assigned
Apply specialty finishes or accent walls when requested
Maintain a clean workspace and protect customer property
Advise customers professionally on color selection and surface prep
Appearance
Wear clean company-provided shirts and appropriate work shoes
Maintain good personal hygiene
Conduct
Be respectful to customers and coworkers
No foul language, roughhousing, or smoking on job sites
Keep personal phones put away unless required for job tasks or emergencies
Safety Policy
General Safety
Lift with your legs and use proper equipment
Use gloves, back braces, or other PPE as provided
Follow procedures for ladders, scaffolding, and moving heavy items
Report injuries or unsafe conditions immediately
Damage and Claims
Report any damage to a supervisor immediately
Do not argue with customers; escalate disputes to your team lead
Take care of tools, equipment, and customer property
Discipline and Termination
Grounds for Disciplinary Action
Repeated tardiness or no-shows
Theft, dishonesty, or violence
Working under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Harassment, unsafe conduct, or violation of policies
Disciplinary Process
Discipline may include warnings, suspension, or immediate termination depending on severity.
